I just read chapter 10 in The Meaning of the Pentateuch: Revelation, Composition, and Interpretation by John H. Sailhamer. It was (and is) called "The Purpose of the Mosaic Law in the Pentateuch."

I'll bet that's gonna be the most helpful book on the Pentateuch I ever read.

Last Friday, Autie and I went to Chapel Hill to visit Charles, Jamie, and Judah Arnold. It is so great to see dear friends.

We took turns playing with Judah, we went to a restaurant called Hunam and had yummy Chinese food, we had a boxing match (on the Wii - which i must say i am quite impressed by), and we talked about all the God is doing in our lives.

growing miracles

I can't wait to get the garden going again.

Last summer we had green beans, watermelon, tomatoes, zucchini, green peppers, and the deer ate all the onions before i put up the electric fence. This time i want to add butternut squash. I wonder if butternut squash would work out in my back yard's climate. We'll see. We need to plant regular yellow squash, too. The fresh green beans were great last time! The watermelon? Not so much, but it was a valiant effort.

It is truly amazing to see food growing right out of the ground. We miss out on so much by going to the grocery store. God has created a beautiful world. Not nearly as wonderful, though, as it will be to see Jesus face to face.

There's my Autie on the bottom right! God's presence was sweet as his people built one another up, everyone contributing of their spiritual gifts.

becoming a blogger

I would really like to become a blogger. I benefit so much from reading other people's blogs, and I'd like to make a positive contribution to the cyber-smorgasbord of conversations. A good blogger posts at least three times a week, i hear. (In case you caught that little grammar "error," i'm only going to capitalize the word "i" in this blog if it begins a sentence.) I'm not very interesting or intelligent, but God's got a monopoly on interestingness, wisdom, and inexhaustibility. I'll just try to make note of what He reveals to me. We'll see what happens.

Life often feels like rough seas, but there's a lighthouse - that is, the Bible. I wouldn't bother attempting to become a blogger if i had not a perspective shaped by the wonderful Word of God. I am very weak and full of error, but all of God's children have gifts to use for building up their brothers and sisters. I hope you like this blog and are encouraged by it.

one thing i would love to do for a living

Here's a picture from an avocado farm.

Wouldn't it be great to be an avocado farmer? I think so. Not only because I love to eat avocados, but also because I would love to work with my hands outside for my living. I think avocados like warm weather, and so do I, so I think avocado farming would suit me just fine. Maybe one day. I also think Autie and little Elena would like it, too.
